Teachers must attend a Teacher Workshop to be prepared for the Festival and learn about our evaluation process. Workshops are held approximately three weeks before the festival.

Each teacher receives a Resource Kit that contains information and other materials to continue water education in the classroom. Please tell us what items are most useful to you!

Classroom Visits are a critical component of the evaluation process. The more classes we visit, the more accurate we are in determining the extent to which our goals are met.

Please sign up at the Teacher Workshop, or contact us to schedule this post-festival visit!

Evaluation and Outreach

  • Pre– and Post-Festival Surveys: Students are asked questions relating to the five activities they will attend as well as questions about their water use at home.
  • Evaluations: Teachers, volunteers and presenters complete evaluation surveys. In addition, each activity is observed at least one per day by an independent Activity Evaluator.
  • Real Water Use Measurement: Parents of students were invited to provide their addresses for a study of actual water use, conducted by the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.
  • Outreach: Contact us to schedule a visit to your classroom. Students will learn the fundamentals about water quality and water conservation as it relates to their local community
